Unsworth Cricket Club are looking for someone to manage the under 11s team during the forthcoming season. Can you step into this role?

You do not have to have any formal cricket qualifications as your ability to organise and communicate are more important. Your responsibilities will include:
-
assisting coaches on training and match days
-
contacting opposition managers in advance of fixtures
-
making sure team members are available to play
... and of course encouraging our most junior side to do their best during coaching sessions on Tuesday evenings and matches on Wednesdays.

Casino Night held in the Clubhouse on Friday 19th February turned out to be a real success. The event attracted around eighty people including former pro Wayne Madsen who travelled with his wife, Kyla, from Derbyshire. Everybody enjoyed a little flutter and at the end of the evening many left asking when are we doing it again. The Casino featured Roulett Blackjack and Crapps and the tables were kept busy all evening. There were some good prizes on offer including a T.V. Electric Drill set, Sound System Childrens Cycle and others. Punters were then given the oportunity to "Bid" for items with their winnings. A good night was had by all and many thanks to those who helped on the evening . Photographs now in the Photo Gallery or click HERE |

Contractors are now back on site and currently installing a new manhole and pumping system. The new system will have a much larger manhole containing two bigger and more efficient pumps.

These will discharge water much more quickly along a 4 inch pipe into the field behind the clubhouse. Once the remaining grit slitting is complete in September there should no more ponding on the playing surface. Hopefully with what grit slitting has already been carried out on some of the worst areas of the outfield and the boost from the new pumps the ground should be relatively dry for the forthcoming season.
